There are a couple of things I’ve noticed as I’m doubling down on my graphic novel project. The last couple of months during summer have given me a jumping-off point. Lots of momentum. Whenever I stop to take stock of my manuscripts, I feel like I aim more towards writing for younger audiences. However, my ultimate aim is to write for adults. To write for people of all beliefs, experiences, and interests. I want to give my readers that ah-ha moment so they can experience the fun of trying things they haven’t yet dreamed of!
I don’t often just sit back and compare my manuscripts, but recently I’ve wondered if there was a commonality among those that I’ve written. They’re all different genres, different ages, types of people, backgrounds. But they have the harmonious storyline that covers:
- overcoming
- addiction,
- fear,
- perfectionism,
- apathy,
- prejudice
- gaining
- joy,
- forgiveness,
- encouragement,
>>even among things that are typically very difficult!
My goal is to prepare to publish a couple in the next couple of years, yet as you know, it’s not an automatic process. I just started sending queries out for my first novel, and am currently working on my second. The others sitting on my computer will have to patiently wait in line, yet I plan on starting another manuscript this November, as I usually do for NaNoWriMo.
