This week was hard. Even on the first day of Book Week, I switched between four books; none seemed to hold my interest. I recorded future videos for my art subscription and took time for researching and query writing. But then what?
Taking time to just sit is really hard for me.
I’ve shared on Instagram that I am taking time off for a week at the end of each month to take a step back from TV, Instagram, and Facebook. I use that time to read books and write. This particular week has been more focused on research, but I also have thrown in some TBR that I’ve been waiting to read for a while now! Book Week has been much needed in reminding me that my life is not all about the speed which I accomplish things. I am impatient and always feel like I must stay busy. This is not healthy. Hence the week break each month…and this is only my second try.
I tried some new recipes (and old ones that I haven’t gone back to in a while) and read a lot from my Spanish books. I sketched out ideas for future books and sat on my couch again. Bored. Then work started Monday and I was tired, still trying to finish a couple research books. I always love my drawing moments, which makes my new weekly HM. Artwork subscription videos so much fun to put together. This week, I focused on autumn leaves, as the season is slowly changing and there are all things pumpkin out on display!
Next month, I will still probably continue Book Week because it makes me conscious of what is happening on around me. I do not constantly need to fill my apartment with noise or ideas from movies. I’ll admit, I did make a list this morning on which movies I will watch next week. I should realize that s sitting in my apartment watching my cats is not a bad thing. They are rather entertaining, and I think they enjoy the extra attention. I am able to process through some things that I’ve been avoiding up to this point because “there’s no time” and the worst part is that I’m still worn out from work. Reading, however, gives me motivation. It teaches me to enjoy story, not just finish one.
