For the first time since this thing started, I did not meet my quota for the day. It has been a busy month finishing home visits for school, which take up a lot of my evenings. I am also attempting to get in bed earlier, but last night my nearly midnight writing, did not help me achieve my goal. However, with a trip coming up very soon, I am hopeful that I will get a lot of writing and reading time done. My Kindle will help with that, as I am not bringing any physical books with me other than the one that I’m currently writing and a small sketchbook. Over 22,000 words so far!
In the next couple of months I will intentionally start a season of thankfulness. I am learning through documentation and some research that I often turn to things I buy to help me cope with stress, loneliness, or boredom. My plan is to try to spend only minimum, with focus being on bills, groceries, and savings. I’m not sure at this point if it will last just two months, six months, or a year. With this idea of only purchasing what I need instead of the latest hair product or new jeans, my old ones might not be as comfortable or fashionable, but for the moment they work and I can save up for more ways to give or to travel. These are the things that are most important to me and I realized in the last year that I am not appreciating them as much as I used to because I am not putting much focus into it.
With less time buying books or new art gadgets, I am taking time to write and draw for fun. Soon I will update my art collection on this website. My intention is to make it more practical and more personal to the stories I enjoy telling. Until that point, I’m just plugging away at each day, developing the first draft of a story that will hopefully grace bookshelves in the next several years!
